SUMMER 2018 

Our selection of sporting, cultural and festive events taking place this summer in the French mountains. 
 

JUNE

15-17 June, Alps Bike Festival, La Clusaz 
In 2018, the Roc des Alpes becomes the Alps Bike Festival! A celebration of all things mountain biking, this new event will offer participants a choice of trails in various disciplines (enduro, cross-country and downhill) and options suitable for all levels and ages. Aiming to make the mountain more accessible, the festival also welcomes e-mountain bikes.

22-25 June, Outdoor Festival, Les 2 Alpes
The second edition of the Outdoor Festival is abundance of activities including skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, golf, paragliding, trail running, slacklines, yoga, hiking, swimming and electric biking. After the activities have finished, everyone is invited to the big outdoor picnics. Beginners can take advantage of dedicated sessions for climbing, yoga, slackline and golf.

30 June - 1 July, Pandathlon, Alpe d'Huez - NEW 
The Pandathlon moves to Alpe d'Huez for the next three editions. Created in 2010 by the WWF, the Pandathlon brings together teams of coworkers or friends for a weekend of sports, fun, and good causes. In Alpe d'Huez, participants can expect a multi-sports challenge making the most of the resort's surroundings and facilities. The event is dedicated to keeping its carbon footprint to a minimum and has become a standard in sustainable event planning.

30 June - 1 July, Origin'ailes Paragliding Festival, Praz de Lys Sommand
Known as the "birthplace of paragliding", Mieussy plays host to the fifth edition of the Origin'Ailes paragliding Festival & French Championships! To celebrate 40 years of paragliding, there will be a sky diving exhibition, amateur competition, activities and entertainment.

JULY

6-8 July, Mototrail Festival, Valmeinier - NEW
The inaugural edition of the Mototrail Festival, a first in Europe, is dedicated to dual-sports motorcycles. Aficionados can look forward to three days packed with animations, workshops, test drives as well as a show from stuntman Jean-Pierre Goy (featured in James Bond movies).

6-8 July, Jazz Festival, Brides-les-Bains
Three days of festivals and over 10 free jazz concerts in the parc in Brides-les-Bains. In keeping with previous editions, the festival proposes an ecletic programme with international stars as well as upcoming artists. Headlining this year is none other than American bassist Stanley Clarke.

7-8 July, MTB Team Up, Vars La Foret Blanche - NEW
A combination of a Downhill and Enduro course, the MTB TeamUp can be tackled individually, in pair or team of 3-6 people. The races will take place in a time trial format.

15 July - 1 August, Festival des Arcs, Les Arcs - Bourg St Maurice 
Over two weeks, the Festival des Arcs offers classica music lovers free concerts in both Les Arcs and Bourg St Maurice with up to two performances each day. The programme provide a wide range of music from early to modern. This 45th edition celebrates the 100th anniversary of Leonard Bernstein's birth and includes many renditions of his works as well as works from influencing artists of the same era.

25 July, Pyrosymphonie Live, Courchevel
In an exceptional setting, the free concert is performed by a symphony orchestra in perfect synchorny with a live fireworks display. Under the direction of talented Andreï Galanov, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Minsk will give a rendition of Tchaïkovsky's classic Nutcraker.

28-29 July, Chamrousse en Piste, Chamrousse 
Street art festival bringing together circus acts, magicians, theatre performers, musicians and more for a weekend of entertainment. The opening show, closing extravaganza and all performances in between are completely free to attend.

AUGUST

11-18 August, Festicatal'angles, Les Angles
Locals are deeply attached to their Catalan and Pyrenean identity and the Festicataql'angles is a great opportunity for visitors to experience catalan culture and traditions. The programme includes a traditional market, a concert of Catalan songs, Sardana music, and folklore dances to the sounds of a cobla (a traditional ensemble), a ball, castellers (human pyramids), “matinades” in the streets (an early morning procession of drum and gralla players), and the 15 August petanque competition.

12 August, Vintage Golf Cup, Les Gets
This unique event invites golfers and non-golfers to take a step back in time. Highlights include an introduction to the sport for beginners and a scramble competition in teams of 2 for experienced golfers. All those who wish to revisit the elegance of the glamorous outfits of yesteryear for the day are very welcome.

26-31 August, Festival Au Bonheur des Mômes, Le Grand-Bornand
With more than 90,000 visitors, the Festival 'Au Bonheur des Mômes' is a mammoth celebration of performing arts. The 90 companies will present no less 400 shows from theatre, mime, dance, circus acts to puppet shows.
